But the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an better service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour title, took control to create a decider.

Moutet rescued four initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
